Landscaping for Berkley Homeowners
Berkley is one of the smallest and most rural towns in Bristol County, bounded by the Taunton River on one side and the Assonet on the other.
There is essentially no commercial development, which makes this straightforward rural residential work.

A small town between two rivers
The Taunton and Assonet rivers frame the town, and the low ground along both holds water. Wetlands buffer review applies to a meaningful share of properties, and grading or drainage near those corridors gets checked before it gets quoted.
Away from the rivers the soil is a mix of farm loam and sandier upland ground. Testing matters here because the two profiles need substantially different amendment plans before a lawn renovation.
Nearly everything is on well water and septic. Well capacity shapes when a lawn install is realistic, and septic locations shape where we grade, plant and drive equipment.
Lots are large and wooded at the edges, so fall cleanups are substantial and generally want two passes. Pine needles get redistributed to the acid-loving beds rather than hauled, since blueberry, laurel and rhododendron all want them.
Deer pressure is heavy given how much woodland surrounds the residential areas, and it factors into every planting design we do here.
Berkley's population is small enough that word travels, and most of our work here has come from one neighbour seeing a job in progress and asking about it. That suits how we operate — we would rather hold a tight route through a town than take on more properties than the crew can service properly.
Because so much of Berkley is on private wells, water conservation is a practical matter rather than an abstract one here. Deep infrequent watering, mowing at three and a half inches or higher through the summer, and building organic matter into the soil all reduce demand substantially — and they happen to be exactly what produces a better lawn anyway.
Services in this town
What Berkley Properties Need Most
Rural property maintenance, two-pass fall cleanups on wooded lots, lawn installation planned around well capacity, and deer-resistant planting design.
Spring & Fall Cleanups
The service our neighbors talk about most. Leaves, sticks, matted beds, and winter debris gone — every nook, not just the open lawn.

Lawn Mowing & Weekly Maintenance
Weekly or bi-weekly cuts with sharp blades, crisp trim lines, and every hard surface blown clean before we leave.

New Lawn Installation: Sod & Hydroseeding
Sod for instant results, hydroseed for value, slice seeding for renovation — with the grading and loam depth the lawn actually needs.

Landscape Design & Planting
Beds and foundation plantings designed around your actual light, soil, and how big things get in ten years — not how they look on the truck.

Drainage Solutions & Grading
Standing water, soggy lawns, and water against the foundation — solved by moving water somewhere it belongs, not by hiding it.

Fertilization & Weed Control
Programs built off a real soil test — not a bag schedule. Correct the pH first, then feed, then the weeds have nowhere to go.

Landscaping in Berkley: Questions
Specific to properties in Berkley and the surrounding area.
Boxwood, spirea, bayberry, inkberry, Russian sage, catmint, ferns and ornamental grasses. Avoid arborvitae entirely — on a wooded Berkley lot deer strip it to a browse line and it will not regenerate from bare wood.
Yes, especially here. Berkley has both good farm loam and thin sandy upland ground, sometimes on the same property. The two need very different amounts of imported material, and testing costs almost nothing relative to getting it wrong.
Yes — you are twenty-two miles from our shop, well inside our core area. We run routes through this part of the county weekly.
Neighbours, almost entirely. Someone sees a cleanup or a bed renovation in progress and asks. We are happy to give references from properties near you, and on a town this size there is usually one within a mile.
