Our story

Fifteen Years of South Shore Yards

Giachetto Landscape started the way most good local trades businesses start: one person, a truck, and a reputation built one property at a time. Chris Giachetto has been working on South Shore yards for more than 15 years, and the business is still run out of 23 Rowena Ave in Whitman.

We did not set out to be the biggest landscaping company in Plymouth County. What we wanted was to be the one people recommend to their neighbors — which, based on where most of our work comes from, is roughly how it has gone.

The work grew naturally. It started with cleanups and mowing. Clients asked about mulch, then about beds, then about a patio, then about who would plow the driveway. Today we handle the whole property, all twelve months, and a lot of our clients have been with us for the better part of a decade.

What has not changed is who shows up. Chris is on the job site, not behind a desk. That is why the reviews read the way they do — people are describing an actual person they dealt with, not a company.

The same crew on your property every visit — that consistency is the whole product.

Why local knowledge matters more than it sounds

Any landscaper can mow a lawn. What separates good work here from generic work is knowing what is actually under it.

Southeastern Massachusetts soil is naturally acidic, which locks up nutrients and explains why so many fertilized lawns still look starved. Much of Whitman sits on glacial till with enough clay to hold water for days, while towns just south of us sit on sandy outwash that dries out in a week. The eastern half of town drains toward the Shumatuscacant, and the low ground near the meadows stays saturated into May. Frost drives deep enough that any patio built without drainage in the base will move.

Those are not abstractions — they are the reasons we recommend a soil test before a fertilizer program, why we push aeration to September, and why our patio proposals specify base depth in writing.

How we operate

Four Things We Do Not Compromise On

  • The owner is on the job

Chris walks every estimate and works alongside the crew. If you read our reviews, his name is in nearly all of them — that is what a small local operation looks like when it is run properly.

  • Fully insured

Liability and workers' compensation coverage, with certificates provided on request. Commercial properties and condo associations require it, and every homeowner should ask for it.

  • We finish the job

Under the deck, behind the shed, along the fence line, inside the shrub beds. The reviews say "not a leaf or stick left in any nook or cranny" because that is the standard.

  • Straight answers

If your beds do not need six yards of mulch, we say so. If a wall project is really a drainage project, we say that too. Selling work you do not need is how you lose a maintenance account.

The Best Argument We Have

28 Google reviews and every single one is five stars. Read a few and you will see the same words come up over and over.

  • The Giachetto Landscape crew did an absolutely incredible job on a big spring cleanup at our home. The yard was a mess, and there wasn't a single leaf or stick left in any nook or cranny once they were done. They were efficient, respectful, fast, and reasonably priced. We're blown away by how hard they worked. There are so many landscaping companies to choose from, and we couldn't be happier to have found such an amazing crew! 10/10!

  • Chris did an amazing job installing my new lawn with sod. From him being readily available to take a look at my job in the beginning, to providing me a prompt, competitive quote, to the pulling up of my old weed filled lawn, hand laying the new sod, and setting up of the sprinklers/timers to water the lawn, he has been a pleasure to work with. He also pulled out a large shrub and planted a smaller one, as well as re-mulched. He is professional, responsive to all questions, easy to work with, and a hard worker. I highly recommend him for any landscape project you may have.

  • We cannot recommend Cris and his team enough! Timely response, came out to give us a free estimate, and got to work (as soon as the weather permitted!) We have had a difficult time attempting our yard clean up each Spring and knew it was time to hire a professional team. Extremely satisfied with our beautifully manicured yard and the kids are excited to get back out there and play! Thanks again Cris!!

  • Love the work done by Giachetto Landscape! Cristiano did a spring cleanup for our yard and it looks fantastic, we are so happy with it. We could have never done it ourselves and are so glad that we used them! From beginning to end it was a great experience. Cristiano was very responsive and came by to give a free quote within days of my initial outreach. He was easy to work with and is such a hard worker, I highly recommend!

  • Cristiano's work ethic, attention to detail, and professionalism are simply unmatched! In just under two days he completely transformed the ugly eyesores around our home into beautiful landscapes that my wife and I still (three full days later) can't stop gazing at! Thank you Cristiano for all your hard work and we will be sure to use Giachetto Landscape for all our yard's needs in the future. Five stars!
